CAT also known as Common Admission Test is a competitive examination conducted all across the India by a well knows institutions IIMs. Basically, it is a computer based test which consists of question on the topics like Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. CAT is organized every year by one of IIMs according to their rotation schedule with the main purpose of selecting one of the best candidates for their management programs.

IIMs is famous in every region of world due to their excellent education system, providing great opportunity and many things, it was established by an act of parliament around 1940 – 60s. If we talk about the cat examination then before 2009 it was a paper based examination like many other but by the time it was 2010 the board or the government announced that it would be a computer based one. A lot of candidates apply for the test such as in previous year around 2, 04,300 aspirants took part for 1550+ seats.  Registrations for CAT is increasing year by year, if we see the result of past 10 years then you can blindly say that it is one of the most competitive examination throughout the world.

Bachelor Degree with at least 50% SGPA for General Category and 45% for SC, ST, PWD candidates.

CAT Syllabus: What’s the Syllabus Exactly?  

Quantitative Aptitude part of the paper is mainly based on the mathematics comprising of 10+2 level. Under this section topics like Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Commercial Mathematics questions will be found.

Then the Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning section in which data based questions are put up by the board. it can be asked in the form of charts, tables, paragraphs, and graphs in order to check the capability of the aspirants.

Verbal Ability will check the English language of the particular candidate through various logical questions like arranging paragraphs in logical order, determining the type of statements, completing the graphs and various things.

NOTE: The CAT doesn’t specify any particular chapters.

CAT: Marks Allocation, Duration and More

Each correct question will give the interested candidate 4 marks whereas if we go for the wrong then one mark will get deducted as of negative marking. Moreover, few questions will be of TITA-Type or you can say non-MCQs type and no negative marking will be done for it. Paper last for 3 hours and a virtual calculator is provided to the aspirants in order to perform calculation. You can’t switch the section while answering the paper and it is mandatory to attend paper in such order “VARC, DI & LR, and QA.

CAT: Eligibility Criteria & Application fee

Eligibility Criteria: Firstly, the applied candidate must have the graduation degree through a well-known university whether it is a central or state with SGPA of 50% other than those who belongs to scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribes (ST) because they are allotted 45% and it goes same with the persons with Disability.

Secondly, if you are on the final verse of the graduation degree or had given the paper but due to some reason you aren’t able to submit it then those candidates will be selected for the program temporarily and will have to give their document before 30 June 2018.

Application Fee: General and NC-OBC category will have to submit an amount of Rs.1800/- whereas reserved category (SC, ST) have to pay Rs. 900/- same follows for PWD. Therefore, along with the application fee you have pay transaction charges too.

How to Apply for CAT

In order to fill up CAT form you have to first register yourself in the official website of this examination. The process is simple but you have to be aware of things like keeping your personal details handy. Moreover, by mentioning “aware” in previous sentence we mean to say that put your name and Date of Birth as mentioned in your 10th class mark sheet. Just follow the three steps given below for submitting your application form accurately.

CAT Registration: Visit to the official website of this examination and register yourself by filling your personal information like Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Email Address. Fill all the asked details correctly because the board will notify you about the examination whenever needed.

Login: After registering yourself in the portal, login to the website using your Username and password then fill out all the things correctly.

Submit CAT Form: After filling all the mandatory information such as personal Details, Academics Records, Work Experience, and Programs. Now, it’s time to do the last step that is payment.
