UPSC IES ISS 2018 Exam Eligibility Criteria:
The candidates who are willing to give this examination must be above 21 year and below 30 years as on 1st August.
Qualification for IES Exam: If you are going for the post of Indian Economic Service then you must have acquired the Post-Graduate Degree in Applied Economics/Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics.
Qualification for ISS Exam: Also, the candidate for Indian Statiscal service must have done his/her Bachelor’s Degree with one of the following subject (Mathematical Statistics/Statistics/Applied Statistics) or Post Graduation in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics.
Both the post need a fit candidate as per the rules wrote by the board in their Appendix III for the service of Indian Economic as well as of Indian Statistical Service which was published around 8th February 2017.
UPSC IES ISS 2018 Exam Pattern
First there will be a written examination of 100 marks for the interested candidate consisting of the following type of Questions.
Statistics I & II will consist of 80 objective Type Questions that must be done under the given time of 120 minutes. So, you have to be aware of the time and should focus on a particular question for a limited period.
Statistics III & IV will consist of descriptive type questions such as Small Problems Question (50%), Short Answer, Long Answer and Comprehension Problem Questions (50%). Moreover, one Long Answer Question and one Short Answer Question is Mandatory from each section.
Every paper will be available in English Language. Also, all the question of respective Subjects in Indian Economic Service Examination and Indian Statistical Service Examination will be of essay type other than Statistics Paper I and Statistics Paper II.
Only those candidates who may be able to acquire maximum marks of 200 will be allowed in the second phase of the examination known as Viva voce. Below are some details related to the interview check it out.
Viva voce -The candidate after qualifying the written examination will be called for the viva voce or you can say for the interview. The following form of selection will be done by a specific board embedding intellectual people. The observer will ask certain type of question that may vary from the candidate’s academics records. Basically it is done in order to check the interest and willingness of the respective candidate.
